A building with history and cultural interest

The station is part of the group of buildings designed in 1950 by the engineer Francisco González Quijano for the Ferrol -Gijón railway.

Declared a protected building of cultural Interest by the Heritage Service of the Principality of Asturias, it
stands out for its irregular and asymmetrical floor plan, with an abundance of corners and a unique
architectural personality.

Rehabilitation and new life as a hostel

For years, the lack of use and maintenance caused significant deterioration of the roof and interior,
putting it’s conservation at risk.

For this reason, a Spanish woman and a British man decided to return it to it’s former glory, restoring it
with respect to create a special accommodation for pilgrims. The old station of Novellana is once again a
place of passage and rest.

The line is still in use: trains don’t affect your rest

The railway line continues to operate and four trains pass through a day (9:30, 13:30, 16:30 and 20:50),
at times fully compatible with your rest.

In addition, from April to October, the Transcantábrico runs, a luxury train usually passes through the
station around 7:00 p.m., a curious and memorable detail for those who stay here.
